Malaysian Trans Influencer Angers Religious Trolls With Bikini Snap In New Aussie Home

A transgender influencer who fled her native Malaysia after being charged with blasphemy has shared a saucy snap of her wearing a yellow bikini at her new home in Australia that has angered Muslims back home.

Nur Sajat, 36, was reportedly granted asylum in Australia earlier this month after being charged with blasphemy in her native Malaysia.

She shared a photo of her relaxing in her new home on Instagram, where she boasts nearly 360,000 followers, with the message: “Australia is a secular country with a diverse migrant population.

“It is a free country. This is a nation where you have the freedom to follow any belief system you choose.”

However, Nur reportedly closed the comments section on the post after hundreds of online trolls slammed the trans influencer for sharing a revealing photo.

She told haters: “Australia is a free country. Why do you guys still want to hate on me as if I’m still in Malaysia?

“Stop being nosy. I can wear whatever I want, a bikini, shorts, or nothing at all. Please respect me as a human being.”

Nur told her conservative and religious followers: “I have never judged you guys… I just want to wear skimpy clothes. There is freedom here. Nudity is allowed at some places here.”

Nur, whose rise to online stardom began in 2015 with the successful launch of her company Nur Sajat Aesthetic, fled Malaysia after she was called in front of a sharia court on a blasphemy charge for dressing as a woman at her beauty centre during a religious event in 2018.

In September this year, Nur was detained in Thailand and fined for an undisclosed immigration offence.

There were reports that the Malaysian authorities were calling on the Thai government to have Nur extradited back to her home country to face trial.

Nur told her Instagram followers that she was terrified of going back to Malaysia as she has received countless death threats in the country.

The Harian Metro reported at the time that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has received an application from Nur for refugee status in Australia.

The news site The Star reports that the Thai authorities said: “A check found that Nur Sajat received a UNHCR card issued by its headquarters in Bangkok.”

According to the UNHCR website: “UNHCR identity documentation provides a level of protection which may reduce the risk of arrest.”

Nur posted a picture of Australia on Instagram on 18th October with the caption ‘New life’ and added ‘Citizen of Australia’ to her biography.

When one of her followers asked why she chose Australia, the influencer replied: “Because they respect human rights.”

She also suggested that she would never return to Malaysia and claims to have liquidated all her assets in the country.
