A popular port in Majorca is planning to remodel several moorages so tennis star Rafael Nadal can dock his newly bought 2.6-million-EUR luxury yacht.

The General Director of Air and Maritime Transportation, Xavier Ramos, has approved a remodelling project of Porto Cristo port in Majorca in the Spanish Balearic Islands located in eastern Spain.

The port is governed by the public entity ‘Govern, Ports de les Illes Balaers’ which grants the Nautical Club permission to manage several moorages in Porto Cristo where Nadal plans to moor his luxury yacht.

The request was sent by the Nautical Club, the club’s president spoke to local media and said the project is to adapt some of the moorages “which was authorised by the Govern”.

Since the request was sent by the club and not the athlete Ramos assures he did not know that project was for the superstar.

He spoke with local media and said: “The project was presented by the Nautical Club which works as a private entity and after consulting the technical reports, we authorised it on a temporary basis for a year with the possibility to extend the authorisation.”

The project is going to reduce six moorages in size to create enough space for Nadal’s new luxury boat.

The yacht is an 80 Sunreef Power yacht which measures 24 metres (78.74 feet) in length and 12 metres (39.37 feet) in width. Nadal reportedly paid 2.6 million EUR (2.36 million GBP) for it.
