This is the shocking moment a man falls heavily from a speeding electric unicycle while trying to see how fast he could go.
The incident, which took place in the central Spanish capital Madrid, was filmed by the unicycle rider using a remote selfie stick and uploaded to a YouTube channel under the name of Javier Recio.
Local media said the man was travelling down the main road on the electric unicycle at 50kph, which might also mean he was breaking the law as in Madrid, riders must keep to a speed under 20 kph (12 mph).
In the video he clearly has no safety equipment and can do nothing as he loses his balance and comes a cropper, landing heavily on the tarmac.
He is heard whining in pain as he gets to his feet and nurses his injured arm, and the selfie stick continued to film.
He said afterwards: “I had an injury” and added that he published a video to make people “aware of the risks (of riding electric unicycles) if not properly protected”.
He also added a speedometer to the screen which he claimed was the real speed and proved that he had not been travelling as fast as the local media reported.
However, motorists and residents have complained about riders not respecting the rules and even causing accidents.
The City Council of Madrid has introduced some restrictions for the public use of electric unicycles while other cities in Spain such as Barcelona have introduced fines for anyone caught riding on the pavement.
