The main suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann reportedly told an acquaintance “I will do something bad!” the day before the three-year-old tragically disappeared.

Maddie disappeared 13 years ago on the evening of 3rd May 2007 from her bed in a holiday apartment at a resort in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve region of Portugal.

German citizen Christian Brueckner, 43, who is a convicted sex offender, was recently named by police as the chief suspect in Maddie’s disappearance.

German newspaper Bild now report that Portuguese TV station RPT says that on 2nd May 2007, exactly one day before Maddie’s disappearance, Brueckner told an acquaintance: “I will do something bad!”

Bild also report that since the beginning of June, the German Bundeskriminalamt (BKA), the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany, the federal investigative police agency, has received over 800 tips.

The RPT report also looked into the suspect’s connections to a German junkyard operator.

Brueckner is said to have lived in Portugal for 22 years. But he apparently also travelled a lot around Europe in his Volkswagen T3 Westfalia Camper.

The suspect is said to have bought this VW vehicle from a German mechanic named only as Bernhard P., 70. The OAP allegedly runs an illegal junkyard in Portugal, according to the report.

Bernhard P. is said to have been the only person who has ever seen Brueckner in his Portuguese prison.

Brueckner is said to have been in Portimao prison between April and December 2006 – partly because he stole fuel from a petrol station there. Portimao is just 20 miles from Praia da Luz

Bernhard P. is also said to have let Brueckner stay on his property in Barrocal – the address was apparently Brueckner’s official registration address

Bernhard P. is also said to have known that Christian B. was travelling to the Algarve from Germany with a stolen car and that he had fled from the German police.

Brueckner apparently needs special protection against attacks by fellow inmates in the Kiel correctional facility where he is currently serving another sentence.

He was recently relocated to another wing of the prison for security reasons.
