This loyal puppy which did not leave its mum for two days after she was run over and left in a pile of rubbish is looking for a new family.

Animal organisation Proyecto 4 Patas (4-Paw Project) received a call warning them a female dog and her puppy had been run over and left in an area of rubbish in the municipality of San Justo, in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires two months ago.

Rescuers found the puppy lying next to its injured mother and the organisation said the puppy is believed to have stayed by its mother’s side for up to two days after she was run over.

A video shows the puppy lying next to its mother who appears to be in a serious condition.

The puppy, named Coquito, and its mother were taken to a veterinary practice but the organisation wrote: “ We took her to the clinic where she was hospitalised for two days, but despite the vets’ efforts, she finally died.”

They added: “Coquito was two months old and accompanied her in the vehicle and in the hospitalisation, but he had to leave her in order to start his recovery process. He was taken to the house of a volunteer in order to help him recover until he was ready to be adopted.”

The organisation say the puppy is now doing well after recovering from a skin disease called mange and they are looking for a family to adopt it.

They wrote: “Today he is totally recovered from mange and is a very healthy puppy that deserves a family that loves him like we do so that he can leave all the suffering behind.”

Netizens were touched by the story and how much the puppy had changed since its rescue.

And ‘alejandra.giudice’ commented: “Look at how big and beautiful he is! After all that sadness he deserves love”.

While ‘silbenac’ added: “Poor mum! She was able to put up with the suffering to save her baby! Very sad.”
