This is the moment over two dozen passengers are sent flying around in a bus which ends up with a huge hole in its side after an out-of-control lorry smashes into it.

The collision was captured by an on-board CCTV camera which showed the unsuspecting commuters being violently thrown to the floor on the afternoon of 30th July.

The incident happened on Dali Road in the city of Dali in China’s south-western Yunnan Province, involving a total of four vehicles, the police said.

The authorities said the lorry driver, who was not named, was “speeding” and crashed into the Route 8 bus in the centre of the junction.

Two other vehicles failed to stop in time and rear-ended the wreckage shortly after, they added.

The lorry driver, who was hauling a shipment of corn, ended up trapped in the mangled vehicle, and rescue video shows firefighters prising open his misshapen door to free him.

He was taken to hospital together with numerous bus passengers, who police say sustained non-critical injuries.

The bus driver was also unharmed.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and so far no arrests have been made.
