The small group linked hands to form a human chain and gradually float the car to a nearby building, reportedly a garage.

Reports said that the nearby district of Cumayeri also suffered from flash floods and landslides.

In total, six people are still missing while one dead body was dragged from the bottom of a river bed and the local authorities are still trying to identify the woman.

A mother and her three daughters aged between seven and nine are reportedly among the missing.

Search crews with sniffer dogs, helicopters and drones are scanning the remote mountainous region to find the six missing residents.

Local media said that 124 villages in the province of Duzce have experienced unprecedented rainfall over a two-day period and 200 people needed rescuing from flooded areas.

A 77-year-old villager told local media: “I have never seen anything like it. It started in the evening and lasted for hours. It was like buckets of water being poured on us.”
