Light Aircraft Crashes Into Mountainside

This is the moment a light aircraft suddenly drops out of the sky and crashes into a mountainside in front of shocked tourists.

The startling incident was filmed by a tourist at the Cristo Redentor (‘Christ the Redeemer’) statue in the small town of La Cumbre in the province of Cordoba in Argentina.

In the video, the small plane, being piloted by Ana Maria Gandi, 53, and Valentina Uber, 54, can be seen flying over the trees when it suddenly begins losing altitude and drops to the ground.

A loud crash can then be heard and shocked tourists begin running towards the crash site where a cloud of smoke can be seen.

Local media report the two women inside the aircraft were seriously injured, suffering multiple injuries and burns.

A local resident, with the surname Campos, told reporters: “One of them was getting out and I helped the other one. They were injured, one of them had a broken leg, but generally was okay and they could both talk.”

Firemen arrived at the scene and had to extinguish a forest fire which was provoked by the accident.

Reports state a mechanical defect had to caused the pilots to carry out a forced landing on the mountainside which ended with the impact.

The two women’s condition is described as stable.

Netizen ‘Graciela Avella’ commented: “A miracle.”

And ‘Esthela Del Valle Paredes’ added: “Thank God.”
