This video – watched six million times on social media – shows a lazy traveller putting himself through a train station’s X-ray scanner because he could not be bothered to remove his coat and bag.

The bizarre moment was captured by CCTV cameras inside Beijing West Railway Station in the Chinese capital on 2nd January.

Traveller Mr Fu and his wife had arrived at the railway station preparing to travel home, with the footage showing them arriving at the security checkpoint shortly after entering the building.

Mr Fu appears to put one small bag through, but the nearby female officer holding a wand reportedly instructs the traveller to remove his messenger bag too.

The lazy traveller then shocks security staff when he climbs onto the X-ray machine conveyor belt and sends himself through the luggage scanner.

Despite the protests of station staff, Mr Fu re-emerges out the other side and nearly trips while standing back up.

Station police detained Mr Fu and his wife for questioning shortly after, reports said.

A female officer told local media: “The passenger claimed he was wearing too many clothes, and that it would’ve been too troublesome to remove his thick clothing [to reach his bag], so he decided to climb into the X-ray machine with his bag.”

Authorities at Beijing West said Mr Fu was given a warning, but no fines are believed to have been issued for the stunt.
