This is the moment a 40-year-old lawyer is shot dead by robbers after they run out of a tuk-tuk in the street during the coronavirus lockdown in Peru.

The murder took place in the district of Los Olivos in the Lima Province in Peru on the 16th of April and was recorded by a CCTV camera.

The footage shows lawyer Juan Jose Avila Rodriguez walking in the street in a red t-shirt and shorts. A three-wheeled mototaxi is then seen stopping next to the man and two thugs get out of the vehicle.

The two thugs are seen pointing a gun at Avila Rodriguez during the reported robbery before one of them opens fire.

The victim is then seen taking a few steps, seemingly hiding behind a lampost and looking around before falling onto the pavement apparently unconscious. The two attackers get into the mototaxi stopped ahead and escape.

Reports said that local residents called the police and Avila Rodriguez was transferred to the EsSalud Luis Negreiros hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Reports state the victim had resisted the robbery.

Local police have reportedly launched an investigation and they are examining the mototaxi in the security camera footage to find the suspects.

No arrests have been reported.

According to the latest data from the Johns Hopkins University, there have been 28,669 cases of COVID-19 in Peru and 782 deaths.
