One of the laundrette cat killers who put a pregnant feline into a dryer and turned it on – as seen in this footage – has been caged for 34 months.

According to local media, 42-year-old K. Ganesh was found guilty of animal abuse by Judge Rasyihah Ghazali in the town of Selayang in the western Malaysian state of Selangor.

He received a 34-month prison sentence and a fine of 40,000 MYR (7,510 GBP) for the offence.

The judge said that she took into account that Ganesh was the one who placed the pregnant feline into the dryer while sentencing the defendant.

She added: “The sentence should serve as a lesson to the accused and to society at large not to be cruel to animals.”

However, the judge granted the defendant’s application for a stay of sentence and increased his bail from 12,000 to 20,000 MY (2,250 to 3,750 GBP).

She also said that an appeal must be filed before 12th November.

On 11th September 2018, the defendant and two others, identified as 42-year-old taxi driver A. Mohanraj and 26-year-old technician S.S. Satthiya, entered a self-service laundrette in Taman Gombak Ria.

A female customer then found the dead cat in the dryer later and the laundrette manager reported the incident to the police three days later.

The three suspects were arrested later the same day.

Reports said that Mohanraj has already been sentenced to two years in prison for the offence while Satthiya received a discharge which did not amount to a full acquittal.
