This is the moment a doctor and his wife are brutally beaten by a patient and his pal in a kung-fu style attack after the medic refused to hand out a sick note 10 days earlier.

The startling scenes were recorded as doctors Davut and Ayse Sakiz parked their car to pick their children up from nursery school in Artuklu district in Mardin province in Turkey.

In the video, they can be seen getting out of the car and walking across the road when two men run up to them from behind.

One of the thugs kicks Davut to the ground while is bundled over by the attackers who begin stamping on the doctors.

An onlooker can be seen working to fight the thugs off as Ayse gets to her feet and tries to protect her husband.

She is thrown onto the tarmac as the beating continues until several onlooker rush in to stop the thugs.

Local media report one of the attackers has been identified as Cebrail B., 28, who had been for a checkup with Davut, who works in the Endocrinology Department at Mardin State Hospital, 10 days earlier.

Reports state the doctor had refused to give Cebrail B. a sick note as he deemed him healthy and this is believed to have been the motive behind the attack.

The other thug in the video has not been named but police have arrested both suspects.

Davut and wife, who works as an infections specialist in the same hospital as him, were both taken to hospital.

Mardin Health Director Saffet Yavuz, who visited the couple in hospital, said: “Davut Sakiz has several injuries to his head and face while our infection specialist doctor Ayse Sakiz has injuries on her body.

“This incident… has deeply upset all the healthcare workers. This attack is a case of terror, it is a crime. Our doctors have no life safety at all.”

It is unclear if the suspects have been charged.
