Former Real Madrid superstar Iker Casillas has bought a new car which appears identical to the talking car from the famous 1980s TV series ‘Knight Rider’.

Former Spain shot-stopper Iker Casillas, 39, posted a picture with his new 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am on Wednesday, 17th February.

The picture shows Casillas grinning from ear to ear as he sits in his new car which models the Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT) with a red light on the car bonnet.

KITT was the name given to the talking car from the hit American TV series Knight Rider starring David Hasselhoff and gained worldwide success during its broadcast on NBC from 1982 to 1986.

Local media said despite its incredible similarities, the car is thought to be a replica as there are differences between Casillas’ car and the original KITT.

One is the round steering wheel in the 39-year-old’s car which was not the case in the original from the series.

However, Hasselhoff had announced that he was auctioning off the original KITT and would even deliver it himself in early January this year.

Spanish magazine Hola! said the car sold for USD 300,000 (GBP 214297) on 23rd January. They buyer is unknown.

Casillas’ wife and famous sports journalist Sara Carbonero recently made the headlines after she had to undergo surgery in early February.

Despite initial reports claiming it was related to complications with the ovarian cancer she was diagnosed with in 2019, newspaper El Periodico said sources close to Carbonero deny the claims as the operation was related to another issue, but gave no further details. (https://bit.ly/37sIiyy)

Casillas was forced to hang up his boots after suffering a heart attack during a training session in early May 2019.

He was reportedly fitted with a coronary stent, a tube-shaped device placed in the coronary arteries to supply blood to the heart and keep the arteries open during the treatment of heart disease.
