This is the moment when a stray dog, who has trouble even moving because his hair is too long and matted, is finally shaved by a hairdresser.

According to the news website Vesti’s report, residents living on Gogol Street in the city of Irkutsk in the Russian federal subject of the same name have long noticed a stray dog who can hardly move due to the weight of a massive amount of matted hair and long claws.

One of the K-9 kennel volunteers reportedly caught the exhausted dog and brought it to a hairdresser, where an unidentified woman agreed to cut the dog’s hair.

In the video, the matted hair of the dog is being cut by a woman with the help of an electric shaver. The dog had reportedly been given a tranquilliser because it was otherwise unwilling to have its hair cut.

At the end of the video, the dog, who is still under the effect of the sedative and therefore does not move, has been completely shaved.

According to the words of the unidentified man behind the camera, the dog has no parasitic wounds on his skin or anything else that could threaten his health.

Vesti reported that the mass of the removed hair was at least 5 kilogrammes (11.02 lbs).

It is unclear whether the dog was released back into the street or taken to a shelter to be looked after.
