KIM UN HAVE A GO: US And South Korea Join Forces For Show Of Sea Power

(starts)

This is how the US and the South Korean Navy are strengthening their military alliance with a warning shot across the bows of rogue neighbour Kim Jong-un.

The joint military exercise by the allies’ navies – dubbed the Maritime Counter Special Operations exercise (MCSOFEX) – is set to last until the 20th of October.

It came just days after North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan.

Taking place off the Korean Peninsula, the exercise is meant to provide a visible and coordinated engagement for the US-ROK alliance and promote communications, interoperability, and partnership in the 7th Fleet area of operations.

In this footage obtained by Newsflash, the US Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier – USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) – can be seen cruising in formation with Korean Navy ships.

The Ronald Reagan CSG is participating with the Korean Navy in MCSOFEX to strengthen mutual military cooperation and training.

The water operations off the Korean coast are a way for the US and ROK Navies to exercise maritime manoeuvres and improve regional security.
