Eleonora had desperately called her father for help when she saw tonnes of earth and rubble sliding from the hills above her in Ischia.

But even though he was just 100 metres (328 feet) from her, he was unable to reach her in time to save her, report Italian media.

Tragic Eleonora’s body was reportedly identified in the Municipality of Lacco Ameno at around 10pm on 26th November.

Local media say she was living in a house in the Casamicciola Terme area, right in the path of the landslide.

Her father – not named in local media – arrived in the area with his son but they were stopped from trying to get to her through the massive amounts of unstable mud and debris.

At least seven are believed to have died in the mudslide, including a 22-day-old baby and a five-year-old girl, with five people still missing, according to the Italian authorities.
