This is the moment a huge wheel flies off a massive truck as it is being repaired and hits a man standing next to it.

The tragic accident took place on 27th April in the village of Novotroitsky in the south-western Russian region of Orenburg Oblast.

According to local media, the 26-year-old victim who was not named was the driver of the BelAZ 75710 haul truck. He had stopped at the warehouse to change its rear outer wheel when the tragedy happened.

The BelAZ 75710 manufactured in Belarus by BelAZ is used for haulage. As of 2016, it is the world’s largest, highest payload capacity haul truck.

In the footage, the driver and another man are seen standing next to the wheel of the truck which is already been lifted up off the ground in the warehouse. A similar will can be seen hanging from a chain nearby which looks as if it could be the replacement.

The victim, who was killed instantly, was standing near the truck ready to start work when one of the two tyres on the double wheel suddenly exploded violently – sending the outer tyre flying away from the lorry and taking the unfortunate driver with it.

This footage shows how the wheel explodes away from the vehicle and hits the man who is standing just centimetres away.

It is currently unclear how this happened and if the workers violated any safety measures while working on the vehicle.

The local authorities have yet to comment.
