According to local media, the lion cub was being walked around a public park without a muzzle by its owner, identified as Amid G., who told reporters it was always his dream to have such a ‘pet’.

However, residents were alarmed when youngsters eagerly approached the cub with one parent telling local media “it is not a big kitten”.

Amid G. explained: “The lion’s name is Ramble and he is about six months old. I took him out for a walk yesterday for the first time.

“He is playful, calm and not at all aggressive. He likes to walk, ride in the car and listen to music.”

Amid told local media that he had been given the lion cub (Panthera leo).

The local authorities were informed about the incident and are reportedly investigating where the lion cub came from.

It is unclear whether the big cat has been seized as the probe continues. In Russia, it is illegal to keep lions as pets.
