A group of children digging holes in the sand at a beach were shocked to find this group of human bones hidden just three feet down on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.

The gruesome discovery was made on the public beach of Atliman in the seaside resort town of Kiten on the Black Sea Coast in eastern Bulgaria during an improvised tournament to dig the deepest hole in the sand.

As one of the children, none of whom have been named in reports, reached one metre in depth they started to find bone after bone in the sand, according to local media.

The adults at the scene then immediately called the police who arrived at the scene.

Reports suggest the bones are from bodies buried in the old cemetery of Kiten which was located near the beach before it was relocated about 40 years ago.

A hip bone, ribs and pelvis bones were reportedly taken from the sand and criminologists are said to have confirmed that the bones are human. In the video, police officers can be seen taking photos of the bones.

The police did not want to give details about the case and are waiting for the results of the experts, according to local media.

An unnamed witness said: “Most of the tourists were terrified, but there were also those who looked at the human remains with curiosity and took selfies.”
