A family whose kid scrawled graffiti at a natural park have issued a grovelling apology and offered to pay for the cleaning costs after an image of the damage was shared online.

According to local media, the Penaranda family visited the natural park of the Atuel Canyon in the San Rafael Department in the Mendoza province in western Argentina.

Reports said the family scrawled a message on a rock in the park and the action and gained a raft of negative attention after the image of the tagged rock.

A member of the family who lives in the city of Gonzalez Catan has reportedly contacted local authorities and offered to pay for the cleaning work to remove the inscription from the rock in the natural park.

Judge Oscar De Diego in charge of the investigation told local media: “He called and said he was deeply sorry and explained that it was a minor in the family who wrote on the stone.
