This is the moment a kamikaze cat appears to intentionally position itself in front of the wheel of a moving bus before being yanked out of harm’s way by a passerby.
The forlorn feline was filmed in the village of Santa Maria de Huachipa in the district of Lurigancho in the western Peruvian province of Lima, and was later shared on Facebook by netizen ‘Jonas Urbina’ where it has been viewed nearly 500,000 times.
In the footage, the white cat is seen lying in the street moments after one bus appears to have driven over it and another approaches.
While the bus driver of the second vehicle slows down, apparently aware that a cat is in the street, the forlorn feline stands up and walks directly towards the front wheel.
As onlookers scream at the cat to move out of the way, it appears to position itself under the rolling wheel and wait for the final moment to come.
The driver stops with the cat seemingly resting against the tyre before a man walks over and yanks it from under the wheel by its front leg.
The cat is last seen running down the pavement.
Netizen ‘Mayra Soto’ commented: “Wow, it wanted to commit suicide!”
‘Tomas Rochin’ said: “It wanted to end its life… although it would have had eight more…”
‘Adolfo Burgos Onate’ simply wrote: “Poor cat.”
