Juventus’ Sporting Director has rejected speculation over Cristiano Ronaldo’s possible retirement in the next two years and says he “absolutely” will not retire before 2022.

The Italian champions’ Sporting Director Fabio Paratici made the comments at an event where he received the Manlio Scopigno Director of the Year prize at an awards ceremony in Amatrice in the region of Lazio in central Italy.

Paratici spoke with media at the event where he addressed Roanldos’s possible retirement after the superstar hinted he could hang up his boots earlier this year.

When Paratici was asked about Ronaldo retiring in the next two seasons he said: “Absolutely not. Ronaldo is very focused on his goals as well as his own personal objectives as he is the Golden Ball candidate again.

“I do not think he can leave at the end of this season and I doubt he will leave at the end of the next one. At the moment I am sure of one thing, we have a contract.”

Partici also assured the club and the superstar have no reason to part ways, saying: “We are very happy with him and he is happy with Juventus.”

Ronaldo signed for Juventus in 2018 for 112 million EUR (98.54 million GBP). His contract keeps him in Turin until 2022 while making a reported 31 million EUR (27.27 million GBP) a year.

The reigning Italian champions are currently first in the league after seven matches played with 19 points. They have yet to lose a match this season.
