Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba has paid for all his teammates to have a slap-up meal with their WAGs after renewing his contract.

Alba recently renewed his contract for another four years and celebrated by taking his teammates and their respective WAGs for a meal at the restaurant of the Hotel Sofia in Barcelona.

Local media report all the members of the squad went to the meal along with their respective other halves, and photos show Lionel Messi, his wife Antonella Roccuzzo, Luis Suarez and his wife Sofia Balbi at the meal.

Other WAGs who went to the meal included Sergio Busquets’ partner Elena Galera and Thomas Vermaelen’s British TV presenter wife Polly Parsons.

The dinner and drinks came after Barcelona secured their progression to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 5-1 win over Lyon.

Alba’s wage has not been revealed but his buyout clause has reportedly been raised to 500 million EUR (426 million GBP).

Local media report coach Ernest Valverde agreed to give the players the day off after the meal. They play again against Real Betis on Sunday evening in La Liga.

Hotel Sofia is run by Barcelona vice-president Jordi Mestre.
