A jealous wife has been arrested for killing her cop husband and two children in a drunken rage when she found out he was cheating on her.

Gloria Aidee Huertas Riano and her husband Arturo Zorro went out for a romantic dinner on the fateful night and reportedly arrived home drunk after midnight.

However, the next morning neighbours in the area of Puente Aranda in the northern Colombian capital Bogota found the woman lyingin a lift, covered in blood.

The police arrived on the scene and found Zorro’s dead body lying face-down on the sofa. Meanwhile, both children, aged 10 and seven, were also dead and covered in blood in their bedrooms.

According to local media, CCTV footage does not show anyone else arriving at the apartment after the couple came home at midnight.

Reports said that Huertas Riano claimed that her husband killed the children before attacking her, however neighbours heard screams and loud noises at around 1.30am with the wife allegedly shouting: “For that woman? For that woman!”

Police found Zorro face-down on the sofa with six stab wounds in his back and two in his thorax.

A blood-stained knife was found in the kitchen and it is believed to be the murder weapon used on the husband as well as both children.

The local authorities said that Zorro did not have the children’s blood on his clothes, and they began to doubt the woman’s claims of self defence.

Meanwhile, the police reportedly have proof that the suspect messaged her sister between 2.54 and 2.56am confessing to killing her husband.

On the same phone, investigators found that 45 calls had been made to Zorro’s alleged mistress.

Huertas Riano has been placed on remand as the investigation continues. She could face up to 30 years in prison if found guilty, according to reports.
