According to the newspaper Bild, Klaus H. fell in love with the cleaning lady, who he hired to take care of his home shortly after his wife passed away four years ago.

The pair even went on holiday to Italy, however the woman wanted nothing other than friendship with her 71-year-old employer.

While trying to find reasons for her apparent disinterest, Klaus H. searched her bag one day while she was cleaning the house and found condoms.

He reportedly grew angry and accused her of sleeping with other men.

She managed to leave the house, but Klaus H. did not give up and went to her home on 16th February armed with an old revolver and a knife. He even pretended to be a delivery man to get inside the building, according to reports.

Prosecutors said the woman hid behind her apartment door with her 13-year-old son and refused to let the crazed man in.

She told the police that Klaus H. yelled: “Open the door or I will shoot you.”

The suspect allegedly fired at the door several times, and was promptly arrested by the police after the woman’s son called the emergency services.

During the trial on Monday, Klaus H. claimed he fired the gun because the woman stole EUR 10,000 (GBP 8,500) from him.
