The boyfriend of a pretty flight attendant who murdered her in a hotel bedroom before dumping her body in a bath and filling it with water has been jailed for nine years.

Flight attendant Albina Mukhametzyanova, who had checked into the hotel while making a stop between flights where she had arranged to meet her boyfriend, was found fully clothed in the bathtub full of water in a Moscow airport hotel room.

A Moscow court found her boyfriend Nikita Yenin, aged 27, guilty of the murder of the 23-year-old woman, who, according to the autopsy, died of strangulation.

Prosecutors had wanted him jailed for 12 years, but it was reduced to 9 years after he pleaded guilty and told the court he regretted what he had done.

The victim’s dead body was found inside a room at a four-star hotel close to Vnukovo International Airport, which serves the Russian capital, in July 2019.

Staff revealed she had checked in together with the then-25-year-old Moscow native on a number of occasions and the court heard that they had been in a relationship for about a year.

According to reports, the motive for the crime was his belief that she had been unfaithful to him and jealousy.

On the night of the crime, Yenin is believed to have throttled the young woman until she passed out before placing her body in the bathtub with the plug in place, before filling it with water.

He then gone to the reception and paid for another day in order to have a chance to escape, but police tracked him down anyway when the body was later discovered to the nearby rural locality of Kartmazovo where he fled into a forest.

There was then a brief stand-off with police in which he threatened them with a knife but turned himself in when they fired a warning shot and made it clear that they would shoot him if he did not give himself up.

Her sister Landysh, 26, who said she was devastated by the loss, described her sister as “happy and beautiful”.

She was also unaware that her sister was having a relationship saying: “I always asked her about her personal life, but she said that it was too early for her to think about it.”

The sentence was handed down on 19th May, and the accused remains in custody until the verdict comes into legal force.
