This young girl had been left with damaged hearing after being slapped five times by the mother of a boy who complained that she had broken his smartwatch.

The video caused such outrage that she was jailed for 15 days and given a CNY 1,000 fine (GBP 121) and may still face further charges after the assessment of the girl’s injuries is complete.

The shocking footage – recorded in the city of Shijiazhuang in the Chinese province of Hebei – shows the mother of the boy seen standing beside her walking up the steps to confront the seated girl named as 8-year-old Xiaomei after her son complained that his smartwatch had been broken by her.

After a very brief exchange of words, the woman named Wu Mou then raises her hand as the boy looks on and slaps the girl three times with her right hand.

As the girl sits back up trying to recover from the blows, she is then hit two more times with the woman’s left hand leaving her in the hospital getting treatment for damaged hearing.

The violent incident also left the lad sitting next to the little girl frightened and anxious. But the boy in the blue shirt that local media said was the woman’s son reportedly had a big grin on his face and looked particularly happy at the beating.

The furious mother of the girl who was beaten said that the boy in the video wearing blue short sleeves had broken his watch and blamed her daughter, and the boy’s mother had simply believed him without asking for an explanation, and slapped her repeatedly.

She said that despite the fact that it was not true the mother of the boy had not yet apologised.

The girl was taken to hospital where she was being treated for hearing difficulties and has also been constantly sick since the attack.

Many people commented that even if it was true and the girl had broken the watch, it could always be replaced, but damaged hearing is something that the child will suffer from for a lifetime.
