This gynaecologist has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting 26 of his patients after putting them to sleep first.

The doctor, named in reports as Monzer M. was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Zabrze court in the Silesian Voivodeship in southern Poland two years after he was first arrested in the case.

The case began when one of the victims filed a complaint with the police where she said she believed the gynaecologist had assaulted her, and an investigation was launched.

Prosecutors found that the doctor’s actions represented a criminal act and reached out to other patients, collecting more evidence.

Reports state some patients have gone online to claim the doctor invented diseases whose treatment resulted in short anaesthesia, and during this anaesthesia, he would rape them.

The doctor was arrested in Zabrze in August and a total of 26 victims were found, with the gynaecologist being charged with rape and sexual harassment.

The crimes took place in doctor’s surgeries in the cities of Zabrze and Gliwice and the town of Knurow.

After the doctor was handed the 15-year sentence and a 15-year ban on practising medicine, Wojciech Czapczynski, district prosecutor in Zabrze, said: “We are satisfied with the punishment. We applied for 15 years in prison and the court accepted this.”

Monzer M. will also have to pay out a total 345,000 PLN to his victims (between 8,000 and 20,000 PLN each depending on the damage caused).

The judgement can be appealed but it is unclear if the doctor plans to do this.
