The rescue experts – from Dublin – had been at an international conference in Seville about rescue operations.

But as they drove to Malaga airport to catch a flight home on Sunday, 14th May they came across a severely injured biker who had fallen off his motorcycle on the A-92 motorway.

The six firefighters stopped and cordoned off the crash site near Alcala de Guadaira and began working on the biker, who had stopped breathing.

The paramedic-trained firefighters stabilised the unconscious middle-aged biker, who has not been named.

Local media reports that he had suffered multiple injuries.

After getting him breathing again, the firefighters handed over to local police and ambulance crews and continued their journey home.

There have been no updates on the condition of the motorcyclist.
