IRAN HIJAB PROTESTS: Toddler Shot In The Head By Pellets From Police Shotgun In Tehran

As violent clashes erupt in Tehran marking over 40 days since the death of Mahsa Amini, footage has emerged showing a man clutching a child who was apparently hit in the head by pellets from a police shotgun.

The footage shows a man holding a cloth to the head of the young child as he dashes down a street in search of medical assistance, with a woman pushing through the crowd in a bid to keep up with him.

No further details were released of the incident which comes amid violence that also reportedly saw attacks on a police station.

The violence erupted when people gathered on the streets to commemorate the 40th day after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini who was arrested by morality police for incorrectly wearing a hijab.

The 40th day after someone’s death is a tradition in Shiite Islam and is usually marked by public mourning.

Iranian forces have been cracking down on waves of civil disorder following the death of Mahsa Amini, 22, from Saqqez, Kurdistan Province, who was on a visit to Tehran when she was arrested by morality police, accused of violating hijab rules on 13th September.

She was allegedly beaten while in custody and spent the following days in a coma in the hospital before succumbing in the ICU on 16th September.

The ongoing protests have so far claimed the lives of at least 336 people and injured at least 1,160, according to independent estimates.

It is understood that over 12,500 people have so far been arrested.
