Inventor And YouTuber Who Died Aged 23 From Cancerous Hole In Chest Is Set To Get Biopic

A brainy inventor and YouTuber who died aged 23 from a large tumorous hole in his chest is set to get his own posthumous biopic.

Philipp Mickenbecker was one half of ‘The Real Life Guys’, the YouTube invention channel he ran with his twin brother Johannes and which boasts 1.43 million subscribers to date.

He was diagnosed with cancer for the first time at the age of 16 and went on to beat the illness twice before his third diagnosis, which would later prove fatal, in 2020.

He developed a large open wound in his chest, of which said at the time: “You could say that I am rotting alive.”

His chest was almost completely open and bleeding profusely by the time he was admitted to hospital on 8th June last year. He passed away the following evening.

Now, the devout Christian from the municipality of Bickenbach in the German state of Hesse is set to have his short but compelling life immortalised in a biopic.

Little is currently known about the project, but the film is set to be titled ‘The Real Life Guys – Do Something’.

It will be supported by the Hessen Film Fund (Hessische Filmfoerderung) and has a reported budget of EUR 550,000 (GBP 463,000).

It is not the only tribute to the cancer victim, with a song by O’Bros dedicated to the young man titled ‘Real Life’ racking up some 2 million streams on YouTube to date.

During his life, Philipp and his brother used their YouTube channel to document their various inventions, which included a flying bathtub.
