An Indonesian celebrity and mother is facing jail for breaking the country’s controversial anti-pornography laws after somebody stole a private sex tape and posted it online.
The local police have confirmed that Gisella Anastasia, 30, who is a popular actress and singer, is under investigation for breaching the anti-pornography laws even though there is no evidence that she was not the person who posted the video online.
Anastasia and the man in the videotape admitted that they are the couple featured and said that the video had been stolen and posted online by unknown persons.

However, the claim is unlikely to save them from the country’s anti-pornographic laws which have already seen high-profile people jailed for failing to prevent private content being published online.
A polemic case in 2010 saw popular Indonesian rock singer-songwriter Nazril Irham, known as Ariel, sentenced to three and a half years in prison for appearing in two different sex tapes which were leaked online after his house was broken into and his laptop stolen.
Despite there being no evidence presented during the trial that the defendant was the one who leaked the videos, the judge reportedly convicted him of negligence for not doing anything to prevent their widespread distribution.

Ariel served two years of his prison sentence before being released for good behaviour.
In the case against Gisella, her video went viral online in November where she was filmed with a man identified only by the initials M.Y.D.
She then became the subject of a criminal case after she admitted she was the woman in the video filmed at a hotel in Medan in the Indonesian province of North Sumatra in 2017.

She married Gading Marten, son of actor Roy Marten, in 2013 and the couple divorced in January last year.
Critics of the law, which could see the pair jailed for up to 12 years, have complained that it makes no distinction between the victims who produce the material and have it stolen and those who steal it and leak it online.
