This is the moment a showboating noodle chef whips a huge strand of dough across a young woman’s face as she sips a drink at a restaurant table.

The incident was filmed at a HaiDiLao Hotpot restaurant, a Chinese chain that was set up in 1994, in an unspecified location in China and the footage was later posted on social media.

According to local media, it is common for HaiDiLao Hotpot staff to perform a ‘noodle dance’ to demonstrate how ‘lamian’, a type of soft wheat flour noodles, is made.

In front of impressed diners, the ‘performer’ stretches and flips the noodles around by hand.

In the widely-circulated footage, the ‘victim’ is seen drinking at a table as the staff member performs the noodle dance.

The noodle chef twists and turns on the spot as he whips around a long stand of dough.

However, the bungling worker loses himself in the routine and the noodle strand wraps around the female diner’s face.

The woman drops her glass which appears to smash on the table.

Luckily, the diner appeared to see the funny side of the incident and she is heard laughing as the apologetic worker rushes to scoop up the broken glass.
