This is the moment a bungling airport staff member cuts across the runway in front of a moving plane after apparently failing to notice the taxiing jumbo jet

The dramatic near miss was captured at Fuzhou Changle International Airport, which is in Fujian Province in East China, on the afternoon of 22nd July.

The security footage shows the airport employee appearing to be escorting a shuttle bus to one of the terminals when the path leads across the runway.

The bus driver sees the approaching Boeing plane and stops, but the smaller car in front does not slow down and instead cuts right across the XiamenAir aircraft, forcing its pilot to brake.

The video shows the Boeing pilot also veering the nose of the plane off to one side in a bid to avoid a collision, while the car passes casually in front of the taxiing jumbo jet before driving off.

Fuzhou airport has yet to respond to the incident despite the video now being widely shared online.

XiamenAir, which runs an all-Boeing fleet, has also not put out a statement addressing the near miss.

It is therefore unclear whether the plane was carrying any passengers at the time, or whether the close call led to any delays.

Local media has described the incident as “thrilling”, saying the aircraft was “a second away” from colliding with the car.

Weibo user ‘Imagine Chuan’ wrote: “This guy’s crazy. He shouldn’t be allowed to keep his job.”

Social media user ‘Doraemon Loves National Security’ added: “This is dangerous and suicidal! Officials have to address this.”

‘Casillaju’ wrote: “This escort vehicle should be blacklisted indefinitely. Don’t let the driver near another airport!”

‘Hai2084’ said: “The driver should pay for the plane’s new brake discs.”

‘Lieutenant Rick’ asked: “Do planes have horns?”
