This is the moment a huge snake slithers out of a family’s toilet in the middle of the night.

The incident took place in Barangay outside the northern Philippine city of Quezon and was filmed by female resident Diding Avila.

Avila said that she needed to go to the loo during the night, but noticed something lurking inside the toilet bowl when she entered the bathroom.

Initially, Avila thought it was a rodent, but the large snake soon made its presence clear when it appeared from the toilet bowl.

A family member filmed the moment it slithered out of the toilet and coiled around the base.

Footage then shows a small crowd gathered around the snake, which appears to have had black tape placed over its eyes and has been taken outside to the street.

According to local media, a family member caught the snake, reportedly five metres (16.4 feet) in length, by using a plastic bag over the toilet bowl.

The man then took the reptile outside to show other villagers.

Avila said that they asked the community leaders what to do with the snake, and she was advised to take it to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the nearby Quezon City.

It is unclear what species the snake was.
