Huge Sinkhole Swallows Entire Section Of Main Road In China

This is the moment shocked residents film a huge sinkhole that swallowed an entire section of a main road in China.

The sinkhole appeared on a main road in Yichuan County in the city of Luoyang in the Chinese province of Henan last week.

According to local media, the collapse affected a 10-metre (33-foot) stretch of road, leaving behind a three-metre (9.8-foot) deep hole where the tarmac used to be.

The Yichuan County authorities said that heavy, continuous rainfall caused the road collapse.

Officials had identified that the road was sinking beforehand and closed it to traffic in time.

As a result, the collapse did not cause any injury to local residents or damage to passing vehicles.

Some residents visited the area after the sinkhole had appeared to film the scene.

In the first video, a woman is seen filming the gaping hole, with an almost pristine stretch of road lying several metres below the road surface and the metal barrier still in one piece but badly bent out of shape.

The second video shows a man filming the same scene apparently while several officials survey the damage.

In the third clip, the cameraperson shows the damaged road as well as the area to the side that apparently suffered a landslide during the incident.
