Huge Pipe Plummets From Top Of Road Tunnel And Hits Speeding Car

This is the moment a massive pipe suddenly falls from the roof of a road tunnel and hits a speeding car.

The incident was filmed at the Tianmashan tunnel in the city of Liuyang in the Chinese province of Hunan on 5th December.

In the footage, filmed by the dash-cam of a motorist driving behind the affected vehicle in the tunnel, the concrete pipe is seen falling from the ceiling area and landing close to two speeding vehicles, possibly damaging both of them.

The filming motorist then passes around the pipe as smoke fills the tunnel.

A second video shows road users slowly driving around the large pipe as it rests across two lanes of traffic.

According to the news site Weibo, the large object was a ventilation pipe that suddenly fell from the top of the tunnel.

Eyewitness Mr Ma said the pipe hit the car in front of him and he saw he could pass around it by swerving left, adding that the incident left him in a state of shock.

The traffic police arrived on the scene and confirmed that no one was injured in the incident, but did not state how many vehicles had been damaged by the fallen pipe.

The local authorities also stated that the tunnel was closed so the pipe could be removed from the road surface before it was reopened shortly afterwards, causing minimal traffic disruption.
