This is the moment the face of a mountain crumbles away causes a huge landslide sending a dust cloud into the air and debris hurtling into the path of shocked onlookers.

The incident took place in the district of Birecik in the southern Turkish province of Sanliurfa following a period of hot weather that reportedly melted the snow and softened the earth.

According to local media, it is the second significant landslide to affect the area in recent weeks.

Onlookers filmed the moment the huge earth mass tumbled down the mountain and onto the road.

Footage shows dozens of vehicles at the foot of the mountain, parked just beyond the falling rocks and debris which fill the street in a huge dust cloud.

Several onlookers then run clear and watch the ongoing landslide from a safe distance.

The incident was also filmed from above and shows the aftermath, with huge boulders seen covering a footpath.

Reports said that no one was injured during the landslide although two vehicles were damaged by falling rocks.

The local authorities arrived and secured the area while many of the fallen boulders were broken up and taken away in construction vehicles.
