According to the American Meteor Society (AMS), a fireball is a meteor that appears brighter than the planet Venus when it enters the atmosphere and burns up.

The International Meteor Organisation (IMO) stated that there were four sightings of the fireball in Singapore and Malaysia.

Its colour represents the dominant element that is being vaporised in the atmosphere with green reportedly indicating the presence of nickel.
