This is the moment a huge explosion caused by a gas leak rocks a busy shopping street sending debris flying as pedestrians walk past leaving one man holding his head.

The shocking incident occurred on the Yangguang Tiandi shopping street in Suzhou City, in East China’s Jiangsu Province and the explosion came from inside a restaurant.

In the video, a pedestrian can be seen walking down the middle of the street when a huge explosion suddenly hits.

Debris is sent flying and a dust cloud fills the street. Once it settles, a man can be seen holding his head and dropping to the ground in pain from reported glass fragments as debris lines the street.

Local media report the explosion was caused by a gas leak in a restaurant and the authorities have confirmed two people were injured in the incident by glass fragments. Both victims are in hospital.

Fortunately, the explosion occurred at 7:39 am meaning the shopping street was relatively quiet.
