This is the moment a huge factory storage silo crumples like a tin can after apparently being overfilled with corn.

The incident took place at a factory in the village of Jarak located in the north-western Serbian municipality of Sremska Mitrovica when one of three silos belonging to the company DPS Class collapsed.

The incident, which took place at around 11 am, was caught on camera and the footage was widely shared on social media.

In the footage, the huge silo is seen tilting to one side as corn pours out of a split in the centre. After a while, the entire top half appears to split off.

The local authorities have confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.

Reports said that a team of inspectors will be sent to the site to determine what exactly caused the silo to collapse.

Regional traffic official Ljubomir Vujcic said: “We still do not know whether it was a structural failure or whether the silo was overloaded and we do not wish to speculate further.

“We have gathered evidence from the scene and will continue with our investigation. Inspectors have checked the area and confirmed that the factory is safe now.”

The huge mass corn that spilt on the ground has been collected by workers and stored in another location, according to local media.

The investigation continues.
