This is the moment a husband in the process of going through a divorce with his wife gives her a beating when he decides he does not like the way the conversation is going.

Local media report the shocking scenes were recorded in the family business in the city of Blumenau in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina.

In the video, a man can be aggressively speaking to a woman sitting at her desk and then he begins threatening her physically.

The man, who has not been named in reports, then grabs the woman and throws her to the floor of the family-owned dispatcher firm, that helps people deal with the red tape involved in contacting official bodies over driving licences and the like.

The man then begins kicking the woman whilst she is down before dropping down to the floor to begin wrestling with her. The victim can be seen scrambling on the floor before the man lifts her to her feet and grabs her by the neck before they disappear off-screen.

The man eventually pushes the woman away as the clip ends.

Local media report the victim filed a criminal complaint for bodily harm against her husband and took the video to investigators.

Civil Police officer Juliana Tripadalli said the couple are separated and are currently in divorce proceedings.

Tripadalli said a medical exam will be carried out on the woman’s body today (Wednesday), the results of which could see the husband arrested.

The victim’s divorce lawyer, Diego Vinicius de Oliveira, said the couple were in divorce negotiations at the time of the incident. He added: “My client went to the police station and went through all the necessary processes and asked for protective measures to be taken.”

The investigation is ongoing.
