This is the moment a woman slaps a hospital security guard and then tries to throw a table at him when he refuses her entry because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Authorities in Shanghai’s Yangpu District in East China attended the scene at Dinghai Hospital after the visitor, named only as Ms Yang, tried to see a friend late on 11th March.

New hospital guidelines during the coronavirus outbreak require each visitor to apply for a pass, as regular visiting rights have been limited as part of public health measures, reports said.

Ms Yang did not have such a pass and was stopped from entering the hospital by the duty security guard, who has not been named.

CCTV footage shows Ms Yang quarrelling with the uniformed guard before slapping him across the face.

As he denies her visiting rights, Ms Yang throws a bulletin board at him and then overturns his table too.

Officers with Dinghai Road Police Station detained Ms Yang for a public order offence after the footage showed her hitting the guard four times.

Body-worn camera footage shows her lying on the road next to a police car and wailing loudly while cops prepare to take her in.

Ms Yang was remanded on bail, and it was not immediately clear whether she would serve a public order sentence – usually between five and 15 days – after the outbreak ends.
