Local media said that two horses were hit by a taxi during the stampede that took place on the streets of Sebastian Lerdo de Tejada, Ignacio Lopez Rayon, Rafael M. Hidalgo and Paseo Tollocan.

According to reports, the firework was set off by fans of the Monarcas football team near the stables where the mounted police’s horses are kept.

The resulting noise created “a stressful situation” causing the troop of horses to bolt through the streets until finally being calmed down by the mounted police.

According to local media, no animals were killed in the stampede. The horse seen being hit by a taxi in the footage was reportedly rescued by the authorities.

It is unclear whether it required veterinary care.
