This is the shocking moment a driver speeding down a country road in Russia ploughs into a teen and her horse as they cross the road.

Horrific footage of the smash – filmed on the driver’s dashcam – shows the 14-year-old emerging from trees at the side of the road.

But as she starts to cross the highway, the driver apparently does not see her and hits her side on without even slowing down.

The video shows the terrified girl looking straight at the car as it hits her on the road near Gus-Khrustalny in the western Russian region of Vladimir Oblast on 22nd May.

According to reports, two girls had been horseriding without adults when the 14-year-old victim tried to cross the road.

The 59-year-old car driver crashed his Renault into the horse and the girl landed hard on the tarmac.

She was rushed to the intensive care unit of a local hospital.

The horse reportedly suffered two broken legs and had to be put down.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs for Vladimir Oblast said in a statement: “According to preliminary information, the Renault driver hit a horse, on which a girl, born in 2007, was riding. She fell and was hospitalised with injuries.

“The accident occurred at the entrance to the town of Gus-Khrustalny.

“The girl on horseback was riding along the left side of the road towards the traffic.

“According to the police, suddenly the rider began to cross the road. After that, the animal was hit by the Renault driver driven by a man born in 1962.

“The girl fell and was taken to a hospital. According to eyewitnesses of the accident, the horse’s legs were badly injured, someone wrote that the animal did not survive.

“There is no official information on the affected horse.”

Despite the police being unable to confirm the horse’s fate, local reports said it had to be put down after the accident due to its severe leg injuries.

The police investigation is ongoing.
