Barra bravas are organised groups of supporters of football teams in Latin America. Their behaviour has been likened to European ultras and hooligan firms.

Local media report the arrest came after authorities were tipped off about a suspicious armed male in a grey Peugeot 208 which prompted police to stop and arrest the two men.

One of the detained supports is reportedly linked to the vicious beating of sports journalist Sebastian Acosta which occurred in late April of this year.

Though his identity has not been released, local media report the suspect is 32 years old. A pistol and a knuckle duster were seized in the arrest.

Acosta was forced to undergo surgery after he was left with four broken bones on his jaw and a broken nasal septum.

The journalist is said to have angered La Guardia Imperial by hinting that they were not giving tickets to their official members so they could sell them for cash on the black market.

Acosta also has links with a rival fan base within the same Racing Club called the ‘Racing Stones’ which could have influenced in the beating as the two are rivals.

Initial reports claim there were three assailants in the beating however this is the first reported arrest of the incident.

Acosta reportedly left the Racing Stones group in order to pursue his journalism career and has been the voice behind the ‘Racing XXII’ programme on FM 88.5 for several years.

It is unclear which of the two men in the pictures is allegedly linked to the beating.
