This footage shows a young boy clinging on for dear life to the outside of a 13th-floor high-rise window after he climbed out on the ledge while home alone.

The curious child, whose age has not been given, was found by his upstairs neighbour, Mr Zhou, who heard the frightened boy crying after finding himself stranded outside the building today (14th May).

Mr Zhou telephoned complex security at for help at the Crystal International Residential District in Siyang in East China’s Jiangsu Province, and footage shows him having rushed one floor below the boy in a bid to save him.

In the video, the boy stands with his back to the high-rise, both hands clinging to the frame of his family’s sitting room window while his neighbour tries to calm him down and get him to stand still.

“I went to the floor below and held on to his legs,” Mr zhou said, adding: “He wouldn’t stop crying.”

CCTV from the residential complex shows security guards on the ground floor holding bedsheets, hoping to use it as a makeshift net to catch the boy in the event of a fall.

Fortunately, it did not come to that as the child’s family rushed home 10 minutes later to lift him back inside.

According to reports, the boy’s parents had left him at home to run an errand, and he climbed the window while trying to look for them.
