A Hollywood actress is stuck in Russia after she was banned from leaving her homeland over money she owes for her house.

Russian stunner Sofya Arzhakovskaya, better known by her stage name Sofya Skya, is an actress and ballerina who comes from the north-western Russian city of Saint Petersburg.

When she was nine years old, she enrolled in the famous Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet and seven years later she earned a place with the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre, taking part in iconic performances of Swan Lake, La Bayadere, La Esmeralda, Raymonda and Snow White.

Sofya became the first Russian to win the Mrs. World beauty pageant at the age of 18.

The following year, she reportedly moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting, and took acting classes from professional instructors such as Kelly Reiter, Joan Baron, Larry Moss and Lisa Mellilo. She also studied English singing with Vida Simon.

Reports said that Sofya was considered for the main role in ‘Black Swan’ which eventually went to Oscar-winner Natalie Portman.

She appeared in several small film productions including ‘The Tomb’ in 2009 and ‘White Swan’ in 2013 as well as an appearance on an episode of CSI: NY.

Despite living abroad, Sofya decided to buy a luxurious 900-square-metre villa outside the Russian capital Moscow which cost her 200 million RUB (2.5 million GBP).

According to local media, the actress had an agreement with the owner that she would pay off the villa in instalments when she had the money.

However, after paying 150 million (1.8 million GBP), she allegedly said that she no longer likes the villa and does not plan to pay off the rest of the debt.

Reports said the owner brought the case to court and won.

Based on the court’s decision, Sofya and her husband, Russian industrialist Sergey Veremeenko, 64, were denied the right to leave Russia.

The court ordered Sofya to pay 100 million RUB (1.2 GBP) to cover the agreed price for the property as well as fines and court costs, according to local media.

Russian media said that Sofya has already launched her own photo studio in Moscow and also plans to open an acting school.
