HOLIDAY TRAGEDY: Brit Fell To Death On Rocks In Paragliding Accident In Turkey

(starts)

A British man fell to his death on the rocks in a paragliding accident in Turkey.

Frank Lally, 62, performed a single jump with a paraglider from a popular launch site 1,900 metres (6,234 feet) above sea level on Babadag Mountain in Oludeniz, Fethiye District, Mugla Province, south-western Turkey on 4th October.

But the jump apparently went wrong soon after the launch, and Lally – who had travelled to Oludeniz as a tourist from his home in England – fell onto a rocky area at around 2pm.

Photo shows Frank Lally, 62, on a stretcher in an undated photo. The British tourist who was paragliding in Fethiye, Mugla, Turkey, reportedly died after crushing on the rocks. (Newsflash)

Shocked onlookers who witnessed the fall called emergency services, and officers from the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue Battalion Command and the National Medical Rescue Team were dispatched to the scene.

Lally was loaded onto a stretcher and taken by ambulance to Fethiye State Hospital, where he succumbed to his serious injuries, despite medics’ best efforts.

The Turkish authorities have launched an investigation to determine the reason for the incident.
