This elven-faced Japanese woman who reportedly caused a fatal car crash has claimed that she has no recollection of taking drugs despite officers finding a glass pipe hidden in her knickers at the scene.

Bar worker Marisa Nakagawa, 31, went on trial this week at the Tokyo District Court where she admitted she was driving the car that killed a pedestrian.

The incident happened when a traffic cop tried to question the young woman who was driving a Mercedes-AMG SL 63 in Shinagawa Ward at 12.50pm on 20th May.

Instead of stopping, she sped off and was then chased at speeds of up to 121 kph (75 mph) where she eventually drove up the pavement and struck a 34-year-old woman named Yu Takahashi.

She faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and hit-and-run. A urine test afterwards confirmed that she had taken stimulant drugs.

In court, the defendant claimed that she has no memory of consciously taking drugs and her defence lawyer said the positive drug test was because a man that lived with her had injected her with stimulant drugs while she slept.

However, prosecutors rejected this and reminded her: “A glass pipe was found hidden in your underwear.”

A police statement said that the defendant gave a different account of events under questioning.

She is quoted as saying: “I took too many drugs, but since I do not remember anything up until the collision I do not know if that was the reason for the crash.”

The case continues.
